Columbia, October 13, 2011 -- Today, the Honourable Peter Kent, Canada’s
Environment Minister and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, announced with
the Honourable Terry Lake, British Columbia’s Minister of Environment, that the
governments of Canada and British Columbia have agreed on a proposed boundary
for a national marine conservation area reserve in the Southern Strait of
Georgia also known as the Salish Sea. The proposed area extends from the
southern tip of Gabriola Island to Saanich Inlet and Cordova Bay, just north of

The following is a draft proposal put forward by Kelly Larkin, Transport Canada, Stephen Brown, president BC Chamber of Shipping and
Kevin Obermeyer, CEO of the Pacific Pilotage Authority Canada.
This has been in effect since May 2015 and appears to be a permanent. The only thing that has changed is that the anchorages shown
in black as 3 and 4 now have an LOA of 310 m and now called A, B, C, D, E and F. Refer to the draft and the final charts.
