Paul and Neil attended the Cowichan Stewardship Round Table on Thurs May 21st and gave the PowerPoint presentation to the group regarding our society's actions to date. Unfortunately, we were the next to last presenters and the meeting was running late. We were able to give the full presentation (which took just under 15 minutes) and answered a couple of question before they pushed on to the last presenter.
The NIMBY question was raised to which we responded that if the scheduling system was improved and coordinated with the railroads it didn't have to be anyone's backyard.  As well, more anchorages were opening up off Gabriola.
In our view, the presentation was well received.
Goetz Schuerholz, chair of CERCA (Cowichan Estuary Restoration & Conservation Association), introduced himself, expressed that he was glad to have a group dealing with an issue that they were concerned about and also stated that he really liked our web site.
