Who are we?
Our group was formed with the following objectives:
1. To eliminate the existing designated charted anchorages of large bulk marine vessels and the like in Cowichan Bay.
2. Until such time as anchorages are eliminated, to monitor and report on the compliance of regulations pertaining to the enforcement of noise, lights, safety (distance from shoreline) and emissions pollution, which is in conflict with the health and well-being of the regional community and threatens a fragile ecosystem.
Through our research documents we will show just how these anchorages, which to the best of our knowledge, were designated in the 1970s are no longer practical. The size of the freighters has increased greatly and along with the number of residences in the surrounding shores of the bay. What once worked in the 1970s no longer works today.

Are we NIMBY's ?
It’s not only MY backyard, it’s YOUR backyard too. If an environmental event
happens hundred’s of peoples’ livelihoods will be affected plus the thousands’s of
tourists who extract great pleasure from Cowichan Bay will be turned away. A singular
event will have a devastating impact that could take generations to heal. Don’t
let this happen for my sake, for your sake and for your children’s sake.
