Hello Mr. MacDonald,

This is a short note to acknowledge your note and the additional analysis that you have done about the allocations of vessels to specific anchorages.
A few small points of response:


*         We calculate our average anchor days using a 24-hour period = 1 day, and calculate time at anchor using individual arrival and departure times for each ship from pilotage records.  This accounts for our fractional average days at anchor.

*         You are correct there are no 400 m anchorages - the 266-400 band was arbitrary, and could have been > 266.

*         We determine commodity carried based on the last terminal visited at port, and noted minor differences between our analysis and yours.  As far as we know, potash/phosrock only go to Neptune Berth 2 & 3.  We would be interested in knowing how you determined commodity,  as you may have a more accurate method.

I've shared your paper with our data analyst and our national review team  - we very much appreciate your perspective and additional comments and ideas - you've done some interesting work that was not easy to do.

As Christmas is just around the corner, I would also like to take this opportunity to wish you a safe and joyous holiday season.
